First things first. You shouldn't be going for 'noticeable' gains. Strength training is a life long habit that will relieve stress, give you confidence and keep you mobile as you age. Those are just some of the many benefits you will experience that go far beyond appearance.

At your age, keep it simple and stick to compound movements.
Keep your reps between five and eight, when you hit eight up the weight slightly, which should drop reps to between 4 & 5. Once you reach 8 again, rinse and repeat.

Make sure you have at least one protein shake a day and your age you could throw in five grams of creatine as well.

Keep this up week after week and year after year. Not only will you feel better mentally and physically, but you will also get that appearance change you're looking for.

Thank you barney, i will make sure to take one protein shake a day moving forward and possibly 5 grams of creatine. What part of the day should I take the creatine and protein before or after my workout? And when should i do a rest day?
